The below case studies show a selection of recently completed projects, offering a brief insight into what is carried out by Spectrum Interiors every day.
From schools to factories to entertainment facilities and more, we have experience in many areas, and this is continually growing as clients approach us for increasingly adventurous projects. We will keep updating this page with new projects as they get handed over… watch this space!
The Welsh Government were the end users of our largest office project so far, at Doc Fictoria in Caernarfon. We carried out extensive interior works to transform this shell into a vibrant office environment, suitable for our prestigious client. With limited time and budget we installed:
- New partition walls and glazed screens
- Raised flooring throughout
- IT, power and lighting
- Suspended, plasterboard and feature ceilings
- External works to the main terrace
All surfaces were decorated to the specified finishes; including technical design and install of a timber feature wall, which was integral to the design. The floorplan was cleverly divided to create a multipurpose space including open offices, meeting rooms, collaborative working areas, a reception and kitchen.
Both the client and lead contractor found our work to be of exceptional quality, and finished to a standard which can be enjoyed for years to come. We also really enjoyed our work here, and look forward to showing you more commercial refurbishments of this scale.
Countess of Chester Hospital – Café
This café at the Education and Training Centre was in need of an update to transform it from a disused canteen to a welcoming, multifunctional space. We worked with AFL Architects to design the suspended light panels and to install both the integrated LED lights and circular feature lights.
The colossal 16ft long lighting rafts require specialist wire in order to support their weight and are designed as such to reduce the ceiling height to a more personable level suitable for the dining area. This in turn causes some acoustic reduction; helping to achieve a calm environment. We sourced a mix of LED lights to fit into the panel, which provide an even distribution of light in order to brighten up the space. The additional circular lights add variation and work well as a feature to coordinate the colour scheme.
The result is a comfortable, clean space enjoyed by staff and patients in the day, with a high quality finish suitable for the events which are held here in the evening.
Great Langdale Bunkhouse
Great Langdale Bunkhouse is situated amidst some of the finest mountain scenery in England. It’s immediate access to world class mountain biking, road cycling, walking, fell running and climbing makes it a hotspot for visitors and the bunkhouse provides welcoming accommodation during their stay.
Spectrum Interiors were called in to decorate the interior which was looking a little tired and gloomy. Using a subtle palette of colours and materials, we have brightened up the inside so that it appears to be more spacious and clean. The wood and subtle green colours are a subtle nod to the rural setting and very much in keeping with this characterful building, which required a little extra work during the fit out.
The entrance hall has a stone wall which is a lovely feature, spanning the length of the building. The bedrooms are situated off this, hosting 20 people in total. All have been refreshed with a lick of paint, new doors and flooring to bring the interior up to date and add a feeling of home comfort. We have also fitted new showers and toilets, making the best use of space to include as many facilities as possible. We are very happy with the finish and would recommend a visit to this beautiful location – we certainly enjoyed the site visits!
Nurture Care – Training Facility
This project was for a company called Nurture Care, who provide social care for children and help them to progress to achieve as much independence as possible. They recently moved into an empty office unit in Nottingham, which was a blank canvas we have transformed into a specialist healthcare training facility.
In order to provide the best possible training for staff, Nurture Care have installed the equipment used in the home and care environments. Spectrum Interiors worked closely with Nurture Care on the design, to ensure that we incorporated these facilities. We also completed a number of visuals to envisage how we could achieve this multi-functional space.
Visiting clients and staff are well catered for, and we have made a practical use of the limited space available to provide a kitchenette, waiting room and private discussion room. We have created a calm and safe environment for training, which will help to put staff and clients at ease; the colour scheme helps the rooms to feel less clinical and more welcoming for children. Nurture Care are very pleased with the results!
Village Hotel Liverpool
Village Hotel Liverpool has a gym which is not only suitable for the hotel, but is one of the best in Merseyside. They have an extensive range of facilities including the equipment, pool and fitness classes, so it was important that their changing rooms were finished to a similarly high specification.
We undertook an incredible transformation of the lockers within the changing rooms, using the existing wooden locker carcasses and retrofitting them with new doors. The result was a facelift for the gym which is unrecognisable from the old interior. We provided all of this and the new vanity units within a two week turnaround, allowing the client to meet their deadline.
If you have a refurbishment in mind that may require a little flexibility, Spectrum Interiors can work with you to achieve it.
Spectrum have designed and built bespoke units for cancer care wards and fitted out ensuites in these areas for care homes and as part of NHS schemes. It is critical for the medical sector that these are hygienic places and offer maximum support to patients and visitors also. A lot of the panelling systems we make for this kind of use are for handwash stations- concealing pipework whilst minimising risk of bacteria spread.
Operating Theatre Hatches
This project had to be designed very accurately to certain specification and installed in certain shifts due to the theatres being high in usage much of the time. On one installation programme, our team was ordered to pack up and out as soon as possible – there was an emergency operation needed in that room!
The hatches are smart and functional; they had to be very durable and resilient to everyday demands.
Alun School, Mold
Spectrum Interiors transformed some washrooms at Mold Alun school in 2016, and they were so pleased with the finish that they invited us back to complete this larger phase of works.
They required two sets of both male and female washrooms, along with a staff washroom.
The washrooms are designed to meet a ‘unisex' brief as they offer an open plan hand wash area and a clear view to the access of each cubicle. This style of washroom is becoming increasingly popular as evidence tells us that it helps to prevent bullying, whilst still providing pupils with complete privacy and the utmost of respect.
Walk through the 3D model we've created and see for yourself how this school is becoming a ‘centre of educational excellence for all’.
Huck’s Diner – Center Parcs
Huck’s Restaurant is an American diner chain located at Center Parcs Whinfell. Spectrum Interiors worked with the client’s design team to create a visual masterpiece in both the restaurants’ washrooms. This was a bespoke project which had an extremely short delivery schedule.
Both the client and design team were extremely impressed with the results, which has secured Spectrum involvement in all the Huck’s washroom room refurbishments in the UK. Our team installed bespoke vanity units with granite tops and a specially designed baby changing unit meeting our brief perfectly.
Center Parcs have over two million visitors each year who can dine at Huck’s, and Spectrum Interiors are proud to work with such a loved destination and brand. Speak to our team to discuss how we can get creative with your project.
Refurbishment At Alton Towers
Another client that needed Spectrum Interiors unique design and trustworthy project management…
Alton Towers Waterpark came to Spectrum for their large changing room refurbishment – knowing that the design would be just what they were looking for and that this massive refurbishment needed to be completed in 4 weeks.
Featuring robust Solid Grade Laminate Changing Cubicles in sizes to suit adults, children, families and the disabled – along with a unique print to Alton Towers’ requirements. The changing rooms couldn’t fit in better with this truly fascinating amusement park’s surroundings.
But of course, Spectrum don’t stop at design. Alton Towers had a period of 4 weeks to carry out the entire changing facilities refurbishment. With no project being too daunting for Spectrum, all hands were on deck and the project got completed – on time once again.
Needless to say, Alton Towers are overjoyed with the result and Spectrum are looking forward to dealing with them on future projects.
A great project – from start to finish
Demon Tweeks is a leading retailer of high performance equipment and accessories for motorsport competitors. They required a washroom fit-out for their 140,000 sq. ft superstore and warehouse in Wrexham. Spectrum Interiors worked with them to fine-tune a design to suit their exact requirements.
The lighting really enhances the grain of the Delano Oak finish used for the IPS panels, cubicles and doors with our bespoke Siskin range. We also installed cubicle doors and pilasters to the showers to make the openings appear seamless. Demon Tweeks are very pleased with the clean, modern look and pleasant environment that is created.
Aria PC, Office Refurbishment
Our Client, a northern based technology company came to us with a specific brief for their growing business. They required a clean, smart office space to flow with their warehouse and production departments. It was important that communication was not lost between departments. Visibility and light were important for the new office to connect with the warehouse. The Production team needed space to organise spares and components along with individual work stations for each project. The client’s budget was clear and with growth in mind, the project demanded to be ‘future proof’ for the next 5 years to accommodate more products, production, and staff.
Spectrum Interiors achieved this for the client who is extremely happy with the work. Our client has seen an increase in productivity and turnover since the refurbishments were completed nine months ago. The clients’ vision and Spectrum Interiors experience made this a project to be proud of.
North Yorkshire Police Framework
When North Yorkshire Police were looking at installing new washroom facilities at Athena House, they wanted to keep with the existing WC cubicle specification as it has worked really well for them in the past. Their property department opted for a dark woodgrain matched with a cream as a contrast with corian vanity tops too. We are sure these fantastic washrooms for the staff will be in used for many years to come.
Spectrum is pleased to have been involved with the new bar facilities at this hotel. Manufactured in solid surface material to a bespoke shape, the stunning lighting installed also gives the bar an additional wow factor. The hotel is situated on the seafront with stunning panoramic views, we are sure the new facilities will benefit their customers and enhance their positive experience.
Spectrum supplied and installed the Siskin range of WC cubicles and bespoke vanity units at London Zoo in Regents Park. We also supplied and fitted the IPS panelling and all the modesty screens. London Zoo is the world’s oldest scientific zoo founded over 180 years ago in the heart of London. We created their design of solid surface moulded wash trough that is accessible from both sides.
Spectrum Interiors recently completed refurbishing Wrights Food Group’s office washrooms in Crewe. The previous washrooms were dated and didn’t serve the growing team at the office. The brief was to provide contemporary, modern and long-lasting quality washrooms for the staff to use at head office. Both the vanity and sanctuary units are concealed with IPS paneling keeping unsightly pipework disguised but always accessible. Wrights choose a natural theme to ensure the washrooms looked fresh and bright for many years to come. Spectrum Interiors have worked with many food manufacturers so we understand the needs and standards that are expected when working on these types of projects.
