Meet Spectrum Cubicles Director Julian Shaw. Julian is going to run through the issues that he finds are at the top of most school agendas at moment.
Transgender
We understand that this is a government priority to educate schools how to move forward to accommodate all students with respectful facilities. We have worked with many schools to address this mainly providing ‘Open Plan washrooms’. Floor to ceiling cubicles give every student the privacy they require but the communal hand wash areas give students confidence with evidence that the opportunity of bullying in dramatically reduced. We will have examples of solutions we have provided at our stand at the show (A24).
Self-Direct Learning (SDL)
This is very current in many schools that I have visited. There is only so much teachers can teach in the classroom. SDL allows pupils to learn how to independently increase their progress at school. For this student require areas in the school were this can take place with the correct facilities. It is a luxury to have a new space purposely built for this modern learning, so we advise schools how they can create these areas with the space they currently already have.
Encouraging Sport with changing and shower privacy
This issue is decades old and many adults can relate to this being an issue when they were at school too. Pupils privacy is being recognised in schools and new facilities are allowing students to forget the dread of changing rooms and focus on their athletic ability. Creating privacy for washrooms and changing areas is currently one of the biggest parts of our business at Spectrum Cubicles and we really embrace the feedback from schools of how it really does make huge difference to pupils and their learning.
